Founded in 1896, Kingsley House has served the children and families of New Orleans through times of dramatic change for 112 years. From the challenges immigrants faced at the turn of the 20th century, to today's momentous challenges of recovery and rebuilding in our city and region, Kingsley House remains a safe haven to countless children and families and a beacon of hope for our community's future. Our mission to "educate children, strengthen families and build community" remains even more vital in the aftermath of Hurricanes Katrina and Rita. Since the storms, over 20,000 infants, children, youth, parents, medically disabled adults and seniors from 12 parishes throughout Southeast Louisiana participated in our nationally accredited programs. Our approach during the revitalization of the Greater New Orleans Area is much like our approach has always been: person centered, community based and mission focused.
Our relationship with each and every participant is built on the following core values. We succeed because we are committed to:
- Integrity and excellence
- Best practices and evidence-based programs
- True partnerships with our participants and community
- Cultural sensitivity and diversity
